Post-acquisition value creation for a payments business
Payments and financial technology · Multiple African markets
Developed a value creation plan covering market expansion, product diversification, commercial partnerships, pricing, and the organizational changes needed for execution. The plan became the company's post-acquisition strategy.
The situation
An investor-owned payments company operating across several African markets had been acquired at a point where margins were compressing, customers were churning, and the barriers that had protected the business were eroding. The new owners needed a plan the management team could execute.
Our role
Our senior team developed the value creation plan with the company's management and its investors.
The work
The plan covered new geographies and customer segments, partnerships with banks and other fintechs, product diversification into wallets and cross-border payments, pricing and commercial discipline, process automation, and the organizational changes needed to carry the plan.
What changed
The plan became the company's post-acquisition strategy, and the work extended into a further mandate.
